Poor Blatter might soon find himself behind bars in the US! Not for being a corrupt SOB, but for not playing ball with the US government. It was just too provocative to ignore the arrests of his key aides and go ahead with his election last week.
But this whole scandal reeks of opportunism…As coldwar mentality and hysteria mounts in the west, calls to reneg on awarding Russia the World Cup are becoming louder. The question is whether it is not too late to stop it by having Blatter replaced. We will have to see…
Which poignantly raises the question: if FIFA falls, what’s next? Corruption is THE international language.
Well, sounds a bit naive to me. Since when does Coca-Cola, Visa ,or Adidas have clean hands? Since when can they argue the moral high ground? Besides, TV is the principle source of FIFA’s revenue. More likely the US government got Blatter for using the US banking system to launder his dirty riches and corrupt pay backs…
COMING UP SHORT
Well, I suppose it was inevitable that there would be comparisons with FIFA and FIDE. But why would the FBI want to investigate an organization that moves 1/10,000 of the money of FIFA? Besides, Kirsan and gang don’t use the US banking system for their affairs…there could never be that kind of leverage that took down Blatter.
