Today’s chess quotation
SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
Young Jesse Wang recently wrote in on a Canadian message board looking for some advice:
”Approximately what strengths are white and black in this game below (in CMA ratings)? I need a gauge of how badly I play nowadays. Thanks in advance!”
document.getElementById(“cwvpd_1330264905”).value=document.getElementById(“cwvpg_1330264905”).innerHTML;document.getElementById(“cwvfm_1330264905”).submit();
My advice to Jesse:
______________________________________________
She received 4 replies, but only one was pertinent. BRUTAL, but honest.
”This is some awful, awful chess… words cannot describe the pain and suffering that I just witnessed reading through the first 10 moves of this game.” Bindi Cheng (International Master)

While one is just beginning to learn the game, don’t worry about your rating. Get a book on taking the first steps in chess and read it from cover to cover. Principles such as rapid development and early castling are so important. You need to get this down pat before moving on to higher ground. Good luck!
