The chess machine don’t cry…
SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
The chess machine don’t laugh
The chess machine don’t cry
The chess machine don’t ask ”what’s truth?”,
Or ”where does wisdom lie?”,
The chess machine’s got no feeling
The chess machine will send you reeling
But it don’t care it just beats me, beats me,
Beats me all the time.
The chess machine don’t get mad
The chess machine don’t see red
The chess machine don’t catch the rays
Of sun in summer holidays.
But I still wanna be like chess machine
Then maybe once I won’t get tired
Then maybe once I won’t get mired
In the all-to-often vacillation,
that leads to my capitulation,
Chess machine you’re electronic,
Unflinching and near catatonic,
exact, efficient, and don’t waver,
in the face of a world that’s there to savor,
that treats me, treats me,
treats me all the time.
Still you’ll never think, to wanna be like me.
