Svidler takes 8th Russian title
Peter Svidler wins record 8th title!
From the 2nd to 14th of this month in St.Petersburg, at the State Museum of Political History, were held both the men’s and women’s Russian Championships. Peter Svidler and Nikita Vitiugov tied for first with 7 points each from 11 games. A blitz tie-break match of two games followed, giving Svidler the title.

In the women’s tournament two players also tied for first, Natalia Pogonina and Aleksa Goryachkina. The tie-break was in Goryachkina’s favour, and this is her second title.
