Two hundred years ago the world was much simpler than today, and probably people were more honest and less paranoid of Big Government (did it even exist back then?), and so I would think that Benjamin Franklin’s comment applied better then. HOWEVER, today it very much seems, Modern man has sold his soul to the devil for a handful of promises of safety and security, out of necessity – according to our government.
We are constantly having to compromise, in an endless Orwellian-like erosion, our constitutional rights to liberty and privacy. FaceBook and Google have your agreement for allowing your privacy to be sold to the highest bidder.
