Pirc Memorial underway!
Life returns to normal in Maribor!

Gatherings of up to 50 people have been allowed in the tiny Republic of Slovenia since the 15th of May. At these gatherings, masks are not mandatory and neither is social distancing.
All of this is made possible by a disciplined and well executed lockdown when the virus first hit Slovenia and a state of emergency was declared on the 12th of March, the same as the Czech Republic.
In total, just 129 people have died of Covid-19. The republic has registered 2,272 cases, of which 1960 have recovered. Not bad for a country of 2 million habitants!

This year’s Vasja Pirc Memorial is a 10-player round robbin, held between the 10th and 16th of August. Two rounds a day, essentially, a very tough and challenging event!
