SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
The hat has always been associated with elegance and sophistication
FIDE has a knack for putting its foot into its mouth. The most recent example are the new rules constituting a dress code for women players. I can understand the need to address the cleavage issue, but for the life of me I can not understand why the gentlemen who were put in charge of the new rules decided to outlaw hats! Is there a problem that I don’t know about with regards to hats?
Here is a photo taken just a couple of days ago at the European Women’s Championship in Turkey. Are we supposed to accept the FIDE punish Elizabeth Phaetz for this flagrant violation of the new FIDE rules? And if we do, where to we draw the line? Will we have to check to see that the women are also wearing panties?
