PLAYING CHESS DURING WORLD WAR II
Unidentified airforce personnel. During the second world war they often had to wait for the weather to clear up before flying bombing raids over occupied Europe. My own father, stationed in England (RCAF) during the war, learned the rudimentos of chess while the long waits…eventually he taught his children how to play.
