Muzychuk wins 3rd game!
2017 Women’s World Championship
The best of four game mini-match for the title of Women’s World Champion (Tehran) is now level after Anna Muzychuk won the third game with the White pieces in 32 moves. The chinese star, Tan , will have White in the final game.
Today’s game featured a typical French Defence where the Ukraine star appeared better prepared, castled Queenside and quickly launched a blistering Kingside attack. When Muzychuk sacrificed her Bishop on h7, to open the Black King’s position, experts were already predicting a victory. However, the Ukraine star uncharacteristically messed up on move 19, allowing the Chinese player a golden opportunity to get back into the game.
To the great disappointment and consternation of online pundits, the Chinese star let slip this opportunity, and from then on Muzychuk never looked back, winning in convincing fashion.
