A CRUSHING VICTORY OVER TKACHIEV TODAY!
19-year old GM Romain Edouard has a lot to smile about after today’s win
You are going to like this game! Lots of blood and gore, just what the spectators live for! The first position below is a theoretical position after 8 moves from a lesser played line in the Spanish Opening. Great players like Alekhine and Keres have played it. It seems that Tkachiev did not know it that well…instead of playing the logical 8…NxB followed by 9…Nd7 (defending the e5 pawn), Black played the seemingly innocent 8…Nd7 first. This turned out to be a serious mistake that was not forgiven by his youthful opponent.

EDOUARD
Just 2 moves later Edouard uncorked the refutation (position below) 10. Bg5! White left the Black Knight on b3 and proceeded to rip open the Black King position with sacrifice after sacrifice. Enjoy!
