American Continental begins today

One of the America’s most prestigious qualifying tournaments begins tomorrow in Montevideo,Uruguay. A total of 75 titled players, including 23 GMs and 15 IMs, will fight it out for 4 qualifying spots for the upcoming World Cup , part of the World Championship cycle. At time of writing, there are 150 participants.
The tournament format is an 11-round open, with a time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game (plus 30-second increments per move).
Two Canadian grandmasters are playing, 23-year old Anton Kovalyov and 22-year old Eric Hansen (Eric will turn 23 on the last day of the tournament)
