Canadians do well in Reykjavik!
With 15 representatives from Canada, only India and the US fielded more players. Veterans Leon Piasetski ,Peter Murray and Victor Plotkin lead the ‘team’, but it was Aman Hambleton and Michael Kleinman who had the most successful tournaments. Hambleton won his 2nd GM-norm – while Kleinman won his 1st IM-norm – scoring 7 pts and 6.5 pts respectively. Congrats to both !
Hambleton’s best game!
Apart from gaining 25 elo points, Aman achieved a difficult 2619 performance rating, which included 7 grandmaster opponents. Note worthy was his victory over superGM Alexi Shirov with the Black pieces
