Women’s World Championships Round 3 / G2
Quick 5-Minute Summary
White carried the day with key victories, allowing Abdumalik, Gunina and Stefanova to catch up and now they can play the tie break tomorrow. Mariya Muczychuk won against the Iranian star who seemed to be unstoppable at one point, sending her back home a national hero. Mariya now joins Ju Wenjun to advance the next round. Lots of tie breaks tomorrow!
Today’s results. Players marked green advance automatically to the next round. Yellow indicates tie breaks tomorrow, while red are the players who pack their bags and head home.

Abdumalik – Zawadzka 10.11.2018 (1-0)
Abdumalik needed to win today and she did just that! Of course, it helps that her opponent played a VERY inferior opening. Now the match is tied and tomorrow is the tiebreak.

Muczychuk,M – Alinasab,M 10.11.2018 (1-0)
Easy enough win today for Mariya, who now advances to round 4. The young Iranian missed her chance yesterday when she allowed a perpetual check in a completely winning game.

Gunina – Tokhirjonova 10.11.2018 (1-0)
Also very important win for Gunina who now goes to the tie break tomorrow. Black played on way too long in this game.

Stefanova – Muczychuk,A 10.11.2018 (1-0)
Very important for Stefanova to bounce back after being crushed yesterday! Her greater experience paid off and Muzcychuk cracked under the pressure with a premature f5. Tie break for both players tomorrow!
