Qatar Masters Doha 2014.11.28 Position after White’s 10th move (10.dxc5) White had calculated 10…Qxc5(?!)11.Bxg7 Rg8 12.Bc3! Nxb1 13.Rxb1 with a clearly superior position.
WHAT DID WHITE OVERLOOK?

NEVER RETREAT!
im Meister, Peter (2408)

im Zeller, Frank (2430)
Bundesliga 2014.12.5 Position after 17 moves of play. A sharp position where White needs to play courageously if he is to try to exploit Black’s aggressive opening play. Wrong is now either to take on b7 or to retreat the Knight as Black’s Bishops will be strong in the ending. Interesting is 18.Re1!? when Black dare not take the Knight; and if 18…Be7 19.Qg4!? leads to an intense fight.
HOWEVER, there is even better! Do you see it?
WHITE TO PLAY AND CRUSH!

Bundesliga 2014.12.5 Position after 31 moves. White has an extra pawn but the position is not so simple, especially as his Knight and Bishop are badly placed. It is possible to reach an ending with reasonable winning chances after 32. Re7 Nc6! 33.NxN BxN 34.Bishop moves (someplace safe), but Black can put up real resistance. HOWEVER, there is an artistic tactic hidden in the position above that White can discover…and save himself a lot of time!
WHITE TO PLAY AND CRUSH!

Qatar Masters Doha 2014.11.28 Rakhmanov, Aleksandr–Cornette, Matthieu: 10…Nxb1!! 11.Bxg7 ( 11.cxb6 Bxc3+ 12.Kf1 Bxa1 with three pieces for the Queen ) Qb4+ 12.Kf1Rg8 with Black having the upper hand. He won the game. Curiously, this had all be played before, on numerous ocassions. White was not aware that he should avoid this opening line!
Bundesliga 2014.12.5 Zeller, Frank–Meister, Peter: 18.Ne6!! Qxd1 ( Futile is 18…fxe6 19.Qh5+ Ke7 20.fxe6 with a crushing attack) 19.Rfxd1 fxe6 20.cxb7 Bxb7 21.Rxb7 Black is busted and it is not surprising that he quickly succombs: exf5 22.Rd5 g6 23.Rxe5+ Kd8 24.Bb6+ 1-0
Bundesliga 2014.12.5 Piorun, Kacper–Bartel, Mateusz: 32.Bg6!! Rxe5 33.Bd3! 1-0 It is either mate or Black must shed material starting with 33…Be4 34.BxB RxB. Better to throw in the towel…
