Tuesday’s 5-second tactic!
SPRAGGETT ON CHESS

Position after 25 moves. From the NZL Championship, Wellington, just the other day. White had earlier sacrificed a piece for a dangerous looking initiative over on the Kingside. Black , in the above position, had reasoned that White’s strongest continuation was 26.Nh4, but that 26…Qe7! was enough to hold. However, surely there must be alternatives on White’s 26th move?
WHITE TO PLAY AND WIN!
SOLUTION:
White crashes thru with 26.RxN! PxN 27.Nf6+! and 28.Qxf6. when Black must surrender her Queen (28…Qf8) to avoid an immediate mate. White then wins easily. Cute!
