Today’s winning tactic!
SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
Today’s teaser (below) is from a game between Canadian IM Raja Panjwani and American expert M.Pinto in the 2009 National Open in Las Vegas. There is no doubt that White must stand better (look at the traffic jam on the Queenside), but what to do? It is a closed position! If White now takes the Rook on b8, then after recapturing Black will follow up with …Bxf6 with considerable counterplay. Who knows, maybe even Black would be doing better than White!
But wait! Chess is a logical game: advantages don’t just vanish into the air on their own. Sometimes, however, one must look DEEP into the position to find the key. ARE YOU UP TO IT TODAY?
