Barbera Open 2015.7.11 An easy one to start the week! Position after 27 moves. Black was in too much of a hurry establish material equality when he played his last move (27…Nxc3) This gives White the chance to break in and quickly end the game…
WHITE TO PLAY AND CRUSH!

im Vehi,Victor (2400)

Barbera Open 2015.7.9 Position after 18 moves. White did not play the opening precisely , giving Black an edge–and then, inexplicably–Vehi started to play with fire, grabbing a hot pawn…
WHITE TO PLAY AND CRUSH!

Dutch Ch 10th July just a few days ago. Position after White’s 29th move (29.Nc6!?) Black needs to win this game to keep his chances alive for winning his 4th Dutch title, but Ernst’ last move effectively kills any serious winning chances. White simply threatens to take the Bishop off (giving him the better game!)
Giri saw that he could force an immediate draw with 29…Bxc6 30.Qxc6 Bxh2+! 31.Kxh2 Qh5+ 32.Kg3! and Black must take the perpetual. Realizing that he can not really avoid the perpetual, Giri played for a trick, inverting the move order…and hoping for a miracle:
29…Bxh2+!?
30.KxB Qh5+
Note that had Black played 30…BxN 31.Qxc6 Qh5+ 32.Kg3! would transpose into the perpetual check given above. Now Ernst should play 31.Kg1 when the draw is virtually unavoidable after 31…BxN 32.Qc4+ (amongst others) 32…Kh8 33.Rc1 Bd5 34.Qc7 Ra8 35.Qd7 h6 36.Rc7
INSTEAD, Ernst must have thought that everything was a draw and blundered…
31.Kg3(??)
31…g5!
OUCH! It is forced mate! 0-1
Every champion needs luck from time to time…Giri won his 4th Dutch title! Congrats!!!!
