We no longer find it a bit odd that women can and do compete in tradtionally boys/men sports and activities. In our little chess world, we no longer question whether women can play as well as men, though we sometimes do wonder why not more women are at the top. Probably it all has to do with breaking the caste and showing other women that it can be done…again and again. Women can, and do, dream of great things and achievements. Unfortunately, for most of them, society tries to stop them from childhood…fortunately, there are lots of success stories out there.
“The Heat” is a short documentary about Heather “The Heat” Hardy, a single mother and professional boxer who was displaced by Hurricane Sandy. Heather uses fighting to provide a living for her and her daughter, Annie, while simultaneously pushing the sport of women’s boxing into the mainstream https://vimeo.com/78486680
