”START-UP clothing lines are a dime a dozen, even in a small town like Brisbane. But a unique image, clever marketing and ongoing charity initiatives have seen local label Chess Club Collective surface above the rest.
What started in 2012 as a social chess club at QUT has become a fashionable success for a pair of Brisbane entrepreneurs. In designing trendy street wear with a chess theme, Andrew Davies claims to have broken the stigma associated with the “nerdy” board game.
Tim Vize and Andrew Davies are the president and vice president of the QUT Chess Club and behind the Brisbane lavel Chess Club Collective.
“You see the word ‘chess’ and people immediately think of nerds and maths,” Mr Davies said. “So the whole appeal of Chess Club Collective was the challenge of changing people’s perceptions.” READ MORE HERE.
