Chess can be a violent game. The intensity of the struggle often tempts the ego to physically act out what is just below the surface…ENJOY!
There are many real-life stories of murder being committed as a direct consequence of fiery, uncontrolled emotions during a chess game. I have written often on the blog of such horrible violence. Almost exactly one year ago, in Dublin, Tom 0’Gorman was killed by Saverio Bellanteduring a chess game.
Apparently it all started because of a dispute about one of the rules…in the end Saverio ate part of O’Gorman’s lung and even tried to eat his heart! A trial date has been set, but the case is apparently of such complexity that it might be delayed for years. Bellante is currently in a pyschiatric hospital.
In the meantime, if you are in Ireland in the next week, you might be interested in attending a first anniversary mass for O’Gorman.
