Today’s chess chuckles…
Silvio Danailov, former ECU president , grandmaster, trainer and chess-entrepreneur is not one to soon forget. Here Silvio depicts the on-going FIDE meeting taking place right now in Chengdu, China.
TODAY’S WINNING SELFIE!
How could I resist? ‘Nothing to do with chess!’ you say? Well neither should the next chuckle, but that is another story:
CHESS TO BE PART OF WINTER OLYMPICS?!
No joke! At the FIDE quarterly meeting mentioned above, the FIDE incumbent thought that this was a GREAT idea! Infact, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has been pursuing this idea for more than 20 years now…
The latest obstacle put into his path by officials who are no doubt too polite to tell him to ‘F…O..!!’–that games in the Winter Olympics MUST have something to do with snow and ice–has been overcome: Kirsan says that we chess players can use chess pieces made of ice!
While there has been very little reaction from the international chess community (no doubt,by now quite used to the FIDE president’s often eccentric declarations) the international media has been quick to pick up this story for purposes of humor and disbelief…
