Team Championship in France
SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
Here I thought a little bit before playing 47.Nd8ch , which mates in just a few moves. However, I also had an artistic mate available to me that was shown to me by my team mate IM JP Boudre:
This year I am part of the Echiquier Bordelais team in the 2nd Division of the French Team Championship. So far we are ranked number 1, despite a rarrow and hotly contested defeat this past Sunday against our principal rival La Membrolle de Choisille. The top two classified teams in this division will go up to the 1st Division next season, so my team has excellent chances!
Echiquier Bordelais is Bordeaux’s most active and popular chess club. Run by the couple Jean-Renauld and Francoise, the club is located in the heart of Bordeaux and offers a wide selection of chess activities for players of all ages and strengths.
Jean-Renauld Lagunes’ principal gift is in teaching, and he has been very successful in transfering his passion for the game during the past 40 years, already producing one GM (Mathieu Cornette) and numerous masters.
My opponent in yesterday’s match was the Serbian master Miso Pap (elo 2495). I give the game below (pgn viewer). A very difficult game in all of its phases, I was able to impose in the latter part of the middlegame and break thru on the kingside.
