Some tactics from the Polish Championship
Monday’s Winning 5-second Tactics
Good day, Monday! In this column I begin with some great tactics from the recently concluded Polish Championship held in Warsaw, and will conclude with an excellent sample of some of the championship’s better games. As I will add to it as the day progresses, this will be a work in progress. Good luck!

gm Bartel,M – gm Gajewski,G Poland_ch 19.5.2018
A very sharp game! But Bartel allowed himself to get carried away, and now Black has a strong counter attack. Black to play and win!

gm Socko,B – gm Tomczak,J Poland_ch 19.5.2018
Wow! It is not often that a grandmaster allows a mate in two moves. White to play and win!

gm Warakomska–gm Majdan Poland_chw 14.5.2018
It is not often that one witnesses a winning attack when the Queens have already been traded off. White to play and win!

Some Games!

gm Bartel – gm Sadzikowski Poland_ch 14.5.2018 (1-0)
An instructive example of what can happen to you if you ‘forget’ to castle early.

gm Krasenkov – gm Wojtaszek Poland_ch 19.5.2018 (0-1)
The experienced Krasenkov tried to buid up an attacking game, but his opponent was always one step ahead.

gm Duda – gm Sadzikowski Poland_ch 18.5.2018 (1-0)
An entertaining game in every phase. It appears that Black’s play was unsound. Very nice finish!

To be continued in a couple of hours…
