Daniel Hugo Cámpora was born on 30 June 1957 in San Nicolás Argentina. He became Argentine Junior Champion in 1975. He was since won twice the Argentine Champion, in 1986 and 1989, and was twice Sub-Champion in 1978 and 1987.
I have known Daniel for more than 20 years, and he is one of the grandmasters that I have played the most in over the board competition. Somehow, even though we are friends, we rarely make draws! I have great respect for his skill and sportsmanship.
SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
Good morning Saturday! What a great day! And to celebrate we have a cool composition from the maestro himself: Black seems very close to making a draw, and especially so since the White pawns are not as dangerous as they appear at first sight. However, it is precisely here that Troitzky entertains us with his concept: trapping the Black Rook on an open board! Enough said…White to play and win. Good luck!

Campora played for Argentina in eight Chess Olympiads, and still remains one of the strongest grandmasters in Argentina. He has lived in Seville,Spain for many years (he is married to Teresa, and has a son Daniel jr.)

His style is very universal, and he has achieved excellent results in international play. He has defeated many of the world’s top grandmasters. Daniel has recently taken up poker (as have many chess players!), and has become a very capable competitor. Now is he trying to convince me to take it up also!
