The Problem with Elite Reputations…

Are the ELITE capable of cheating, lying and committing murder like the worst of us? According to FIDE prez Arkady Dvorkovich, the answer is a resounding ‘No!’ . Why are the elite different? ‘They have a reputation to protect!’

You can read more about Dvorkovich’s incredible declaration HERE. At first I thought that it was just something ‘lost in translation’, but this was quickly debunked when the FIDE press officer, David lLada, repeated the same opinion in a recent interview.

Dvorkovich’s comments fly in the face of the IOC’s battle-weary and constant vigilance against all forms of cheating in sports, and undermines the IOC’s most basic principle: the equal and fair treatment of all participants and athletes.
So while it is quite disturbing that the FIDE leadership would so openly express opinions that are clearly sociopathic, racist and ignorant, the next question is ‘What more has the Dvorkovich horde been keeping from us since they first got elected in October 2018?”

Of course, FIDE’s position is absurdly laughable. Limiting my observations to the sports world (chess is a sport, remember) there are hundreds and hundreds of well publicized scandals involving cheating by elite athletes. Here is a small sample:
In many of the cases involving elite cheating, doping and so forth, it is precisely their reputation that they are trying to protect when they cross the red line!
That is, the PRESSURE of building or maintaining a BIG reputation is a KEY factor in the decision of elite athletes to cheat. Not the other way around!
