SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
For those of you interested in chess history, I chanced upon a site that centers on French chess history:
HERITAGE des ECHECS FRANCAIS
Le café de la Régence en 1874
The site offers all sorts of interesting information, well researched with crosstables and photos and newspaper clippings for the era. You can find a history of the French Championships, the Paris Championships, and so on. As well, you can find a detailed list of every important tournament held in France since the 19th century. I strongly recommend bookmarking this site, especially as it is difficult to find this kind of information in one place!
I reproduce here some wonderful material about the visit of an 8 year old Sammy Reshevsky wunderkind to Paris, that can be found on the above website. Enjoy!
