My readers will be happy to learn that Budapest’s most popular english-language newsletter is alive and well. INFACT, it is better than ever! You can download the NOVEMBER ISSUE right here or from the sidebar on the left.
As usual, this month’s issue is overflowing with all sorts of interesting chess games, tournament results, opening theory and much, much more! The editor, Michael Yip, tries to balance both national and international content. Here is what you can find this month:

DID YOU KNOW THAT…
Anita and Ticia
To further the tradition of Hungarian siblings in chess, there are the Gara sisters: Ticia and Anita. Anita, for her part, has won the Hungarian Chess Champion title three times, and is a yet another Hungarian female grandmaster. Younger sister Ticia won the countrywide championship twice, and continues to be one of the top 100 female chess players in the world. Both, it is fair to say, are photogenic and Ticia even appears in advertisements about Hungarian beauties !

Canadian chess master, author and all-round good guy has been our best kept secret in Budapest for about 5 years now. Michael is very well known to my Canadian readers, having been a chess instructor and a popular author of books for beginners before moving abroad. These days Michael dedicates his time entirely to the promotion of the game and–whenever he can squeeze it in–to play himself in tournaments and team games in the Budapest area.
Michael has just started up a blog ( link here ) that is an offshoot of his popular newsletter and loyally provides interesting chess content EVERY DAY! News and games from important tournaments, matches and team events is provided. PLUS–and this is great for my Canadian readers–Michael provides the BEST coverage of chess events involving Canadians on the internet!!
If you want to find out more on how the Canadian youngsters are doing at the Maribor World Championships, then Michael’s blog is the BEST! Check it out!
Or if you want to know how Canadian representative Natalia Khoudgarian is doing at the Women’s World Championship, then Yip’s blog is for you!
No doubt in my mind that Michael’s blog is soon going to be a big success, especially in Canada! Already after only a few weeks, he has shamed the CFC’s own newly designed ($18,000 !!) website and has put the older message boards into the trash bin! I wish Michael the very best in this new venture!
