Mystery man in hammer-attack identified!
SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
The bizarre story of a deranged chessplayer who attacked a tourist in NYC with a hammer this past week and then gave a false name –that of a well-known Canadian master (Jack Yoos)–when arrested by the police has been the centre of attention both within the chess community and in the media.
FINALLY today the individual has been identified! He is none other than CFC Executive member Lyle Craver! Apparently Mr. Craver has not been seen within the chess community for more than 5 years, even though he is constantly re-elected (by acclamation) by the national chess organization!

The real Mr. Jack Yoos, who is often mistaken for Mr. Craver in Vancouver tournaments!
The last known photo of Mr. Craver as given on the CFC website. He has not been seen inside the Canadian Chess Federation for years. Apparently he has shaved off all of his body hair and become a member of a recluse cult in the Vancouver area before moving out east in time for the World Open, where he entered in the under-1400 section in hopes of winning the $10,000 first prize.
