Monday’s Winning 5-second Tactics
The Winner Takes All

How are you today? I trust your weekend was everything you wanted it to be and that you are now ready and motivated for yet another week of challenge and hard work!
What better way to begin than by proving your skills in solving tactical problems taken from the recent Moscow Aeroflot tournament. Good luck! (Pgn can be downloaded at the end)
Let’s Begin!
Of course the White Queen is in trouble, but Black must not rush things. If now …Bc8? then White escapes with Na4!. Instead, how should Black play?
Another complex tactical fight! Black had just captured on g3, no doubt thinking that he had tricked his opponent because of the coming Bd4 check. How should White prove Black wrong?
A Scandanavian Defence gone wrong! Black – an experienced grandmaster — has neglected his development and is now about to be punished by his 13-year old opponent. How should White proceed?
White clearly is on top with his strong attack on the Kingside, but it still requires precision. How should White crush Black?
A wild tactical struggle has resulted in Black’s favour. How can Black put White away with style?
This is the position that Black had headed for. He is soon going to be a pawn up and has a very active game. What did Black overlook?
Sometimes the Sicilian is just the wrong opening. Here Black is a piece up but his King can not castle. How can White take advantage of this?
Black has unnecessarily weakened her Queenside pawns. How can White exploit this?
A curious position. White’s King seems well defended with all of his pieces in active positions. Black to play and win!
Yet one more hard fought game! Material is roughly equal and White seems to have everything undercontrol. Black to play and prove otherwise!
It has been a difficult game for Black but he is fighting. He now hopes to exploit the fact that the 2 White Bishops are along the same line. How should White play and end Black’s suffering?
Another hard fought game. Black has won a pawn on the Queenside and seems to be able to keep it. What did Black overlook?
