Mamedyarov wins Gashimov Memorial Again!
Two years straight!
Playing in his own country, Mamedyarov rose to the occasion for the second year in a row and brilliantly won the Gashimov Memorial ahead of many of the world’s super-elite. Congrats!
Kramnik, Topalov and So finished a half point back at 5 points each. Vice world champion Karjakin could only finish at 50%, while Radjabov – one of the most combative players around – made 8 draws! Eljanov and Harikrishna occupied the cellar with 3.5 points.
Mamedyarov is one of the few grandmasters today who actually prefers to play Black! Witness his wins against So, Kramnik and Eljanov!

Sissy also prefers Black…
