Today the chinese superstar defeated her 3rd 2700-rated player in a row. My friend Alex Shirov went down in flames trying to make something out of nothing in a sharp and popular line of the Poison Pawn (Najdorf Sicilian). Before he realized it, he was already worse and the women’s world champion did not show him any mercy.
Tomorrow is the final round of the Gibraltar tournament. My money is on Yifan! Her opponent is Mamedyarov, who often plays quite unsoundly in the opening against 1.e4
