How are you today? Friday is always special, and so I have prepared some 14 tactical exercises for you! All from the American Continental being held in Montevideo. Some are easy, and some are less so. PGN can be downloaded at the end. Good luck!

White can not take the Rook because he would lose his Queen immediately. But rather than think of winning material, ask yourself: what is Black’s Queen doing all the way over on the Q-side. White to play and win!

Once more the Black Queen is offside. White did not find how to win over the board, but I have no doubt you will! White to play and crush!

Black’s development is lagging White’s and this gives White the opportunity to break thru, despite the piece less. How should White proceed?

The grandmaster has not played the opening very well. White now showed too much respect and retreated his Queen. Instead, there is a way to win by force. What is it?
