Friday Coffee, chess, barking dogs, viagra and potpourri
It’s Friday!

Friday can have that kind of effect on you. Some dance with joy, others just don’t want to believe that another week has come and gone. I associate myself more with the optimism of the first group than the pessimism of the second.
That being said, did you know that more people kill themselves on the weekend than during the work week? For these people, the arrival of Friday carries some danger with it…
Researchers at Harvard found three to five cups of coffee a day could stop you heading to an early grave. Coffee can reduce the risk of diabetes, helps you heal faster after operations or accidents, helps reduce the risk of developing Parkinson’s disease and helps prevent the clogging of arteries. Read more HERE.
Adding to that, coffee is FUN and relatively inexpensive. It gives you a much needed kick in the morning and helps keep you focused during the day. And coffee can be a great way to make new friends…
FIDE’s critics from Kirsan’s point of view
Some admire him, others loathe him. But no one remains indifferent when the subject of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov comes up. FIDE’s president since November , Kirsan has come under increasing pressure since he was put on the US List in late 2015 for allegedly having inappropriate contacts with Assad’s regime.
After an attempted/aborted coup d’état earlier this spring by Kirsan’s appointed Presidential Board in Athens, Kirsan has made it clear to everyone that he will run once more in the 2018 FIDE presidential elections. With this in mind, Kirsan has set aside some $30 million for the creation of continental chess foundations and has been campaigning intensely, visiting several different countries each week.
Just the other day in the social media, Kirsan gave an interview where he very discretely shrugged off any discontent with his leadership with the old Arabic proverb “The dogs bark but the caravan moves on.”
Ashley Chess Girl strikes a pose…
Another chess player who is almost as savvy as Kirsan Ilyumzhinov when it comes to the social-media is Canada’s Ashley Tapp. I have often featured Ashley on this blog, and each time I do I receive very positive commentary. You can visit Ashley’s FACEBOOK if you want to find out what is happening in her life…
Chess and Viagra
Congrats to 50-something Nigel Short for his outstanding erection victory in round 1 of the 2017 edition of the Sigeman International in Malmo Sweden just the other day. The finish is simply ejaculatory! Even such a conservative blog as could not resist the temptation…
