Friday Coffee
In praise of morning coffee
While drinking coffee can and does strengthen social and communal bonds, it is undoubtedly the magic of the first cup in the morning which we drink, alone and coccooned in our safety zone, that we most jealously value. And selfishly long for at the start of each day. The first cup of coffee we NEED; all the others that follow during the day we simply want.
The first cup of coffee is also often filled with surprise and wonder. Blocking out the problems of the world , re-bonding with what we are familiar with, comfortablely grounding ourselves, we can then appreciate, in silence, our uniqueness. We can explore and discover new traits of courselves.
Morning Coffee, you are simply amazing…
Another health benefit of coffee!
More good news on the benefits of drinking coffee! The Journal of the American Heart Association (JAHA) recently published the findings of a Brazilian study indicating that drinking atleast 3 cups of coffee a day over an extended period of time may reduce the risk of atheroslerosis (clogged arteries).
This is a serious study. For those interested in the technical side of the study, you can even download it at the above link. Or if you just want a summary in lay talk, then check this out!
Anti-coffee lobby gains ground in California
This is no joke! A Superior Court judge made the ruling after careful consideration of arguments put forward by both the coffee community and the anti-coffee lobby, so this is becoming serious. Fines and penalties, should StarBucks and other coffee outlets continue to refuse to label their coffee, could amount to hundreds of millions of dollars!
You might also want to read an article published yesterday in the Washington Post.
Even though the WHO (World Health Organization) considers that coffee does not cause cancer, noisy and well funded lobby groups in the US insist on warning labels. I have written numerous times on this blog this year on this exact subject. I suggest the reader to especially take a look at this blog article which contains an insightful discussion on what the risks are.
Continue to drink coffee! Live long and prosper.
