Copyright, the internet and you
SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
An informed talk by a respected Ottawa law professor. I find it a bit scary what is happening right now. It seems that not just one, but several governments are moving in the direction to control the internet and its users. Ofcourse, we all know what copyright is all about, but what if there is more in play than just intellectual property rights? What if it is more than just dollars and cents to already rich artists and companies? The new laws envision scenarios that give bureaucrats arbitrary and sweeping censorship powers that can close down virtually any website in the world.
