SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
IN THE REAL WORLD political satire is a fact of daily life, regardless of whether you live in a democratic regime or under a dictatorship (though political satirists have shorter life-spans in the latter). The game of chess finds itself perfectly endowed with sufficient subtlety and finesse to be able to make a point without being overtly offensive or rash. Chess is the game of Kings….and often the political leaders of the day can find some solace in the fun with the comparison.
This week on http://www.pogonina.com/
there were posted some really nice items on chess and politics (especially with Putin and Medvedev). I have taken the liberty of reproducing them here. Enjoy!
