Chess, potpourri and other nonsense!
LIFE IMITATING ART?!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING THIS WEEKEND?
When the exhibition first was open to the public last year, BITCHSLAPMAG wrote: “A CHESS NOVEL” is an exhibition by the artist duo Ida Havn and Isabella Hemmersbach who explore the rules of the chess universe and outdated gender roles inspired by Stefan Zweig’s book, carrying the same title as the exhibition “A Chess Novel”. Not giving away too much beforehand, the exhibition combines opposing elements, such as nature and technology, black and white as well as the roles and expectations of the different elements of a chess game…”
“For me the chess game is a symbol of an outdated worldview. Nobody needs a king who can only go one step at a time in a black and white world”, says Isabella Hemmersbach
For those lucky enough to find themselves in Copenhagen this weekend, you can visit the exhibition!

NOT MUCH HAS CHANGE WITH RESPECT TO SPECTATORS…
lasker and steinitz 1994 LINK 1894 Hand colored half-tone showing, “The Champion Chess-Match Between the Champion Steinitz and Lasker. For the World’s Championship.” Inset on top left of page shows points being given to the most brilliant woman chess-player in the world. Featured in Leslie’s Weekly.
I count 5 spectators (not counting the arbiter (sitting) and judge (standing) Not bad, considering that Anand vs Carlsen back in 2013 averaged about 15 to 20 spectators per day.
