THE COMEBACK QUEEN AT HER BEST!
The pressure is, once more, on the Russian superstar! Natalia Pogonina finds herself in a corner and must demonstrate her inner-resolve to fight all way thru. AGAIN. After three games of the final of the Soch Women’s World Championship against Mariya Muzychuk, Natalia is trailing 1.0–2.0.
Later today Natalia must win in order to force her fourth consecutive tie-break! CAN SHE DO IT? The whole world will be watching! GOOD LUCK, NATALIA!!
‘In the time of darkest defeat, victory may be nearest.’
CONGRATS TO NEPOMNIACHTCHI!
Congrats to Ian for winning (on tie-break) what is arguably the world’s strongest Open tournament: Aeroflot 2015. This is the second time that NEPO has won this super-tournament!
And congrats to Spanish youngster David Anton for a great finish amongst the leaders!
DID YOU KNOW THAT …
…Mickey Adam’s long-time companion, Tara MacGowran, is a gifted and well respected movie actress?
On her TWITTER, Tara describes herself : ‘Actor, Chess WAG. World leader, Master of the Universe, Fantasist.’ She has just recently (2014) returned to acting. Earlier Tara had worked in television, film and theatre in the UK, Ireland and USA. She first appeared on the BBC at age 12!
CUTE TIME LAPSE VIDEO!

IS TWEETING ADDICTIVE?
Though I don’t yet twitter (I have one or two other bad habits to deal with first) I can appreciate those creative individuals who have built up enormous followings, but NEED the occasional break from it all. Witness Stephen Fry’s attempt to get away for several months in February of this year:
I am happy to report that Stephen has kept his word and has not once twittered since! CONGRATS!
Unfortunately, Stephen is the exception…witness Jonathan Rowson’s efforts to get away from his twitter for a month:
Note the date: March 26. Jonathan could only resist a few days, before he was back at it, being his usual prolific twitter! HOWEVER, Jonathan has , once more, decided to give it a try:
GOOD LUCK, JONATHAN!
Dr. Jonathan Rowson is one of the most talented individuals that I have had the honor to meet. Besides being Scotland’s top GM, he is ”Director of the Social Brain Centre at the RSA. After degrees spanning a range of social science disciplines from Oxford and Harvard, Jonathan’s Doctoral research at the University of Bristol featured an analysis of the challenge of overcoming the psycho-social constraints that prevent people becoming ‘wiser’. He writes for The Guardian’s Behavioural Insights Blog, was formerly a columnist for the Herald newspaper, has authored three books.” To that I might add that Jonathan writes one of the most stimulating and widely read twitters in Britain.
TODAY’S BATMAN THEMES
I have written several times in the past year about Sid Belzberg’s amazing success in restoring the original BATMOBILE. If I understand things correctly, the car was auctioned off in December for a ‘disappointing‘ $137,000 ! READERS might find it interesting to visit the following DEDICATED website on this Batmobile: www.1963batmobile.com ENJOY!
The very-talented Kazakhistan 15-year old did very well at the Aeroflot Open, playing many GMs and gaining valuable experience. A name to watch for in coming years…
