Ethiriel Photography. Elephant playing chess with a rooster. Very nicely done. Other than the board is set up incorrectly (which we forgive readily) what can we see in this picture? The rooster is following Ruy Lopez’ advice of having the opponent face the sun. The book on the floor gives the impression that the elephant wants to improve his game…could it be that the rooster is the stronger player? Maybe…

Mykolos Piekurasis a Lithuanian film director. This short film (documentary) was produced in 2012 at the Vilnius Art Academy, and is called ‘chess’. I am a bit confused by it…I understand the floor is some sort of extended chess board, but are we to assume that the car is a ‘chess piece’?
The Moldavian grandmaster Victor Bologan needs no introduction to my readers. One of Europe’s elite players for more than a decade, Bologan these days is more of a trainer than a player, and has produced a large number of excellent quality books and DVD’s (ChessBase).
Here Bologan talks about the ‘fun’ aspect of chess, as well has some of his ‘secrets’ as a world class trainer. I recommend you taking a look at it!
