One of Europe’s most prestigious open tournaments begins this Saturday and will continue until the 5th of March. More than 600 participants are expected, including close to 100 gms from all over the globe. Here is the list of the first 52 gms:
The tournament is 9 rounds, played with a time control of 40 moves in 90 minutes (plus 30-s/p/m) followed by 30 minutes to finish. Anyone arriving more than 30 minutes late for his/her game will be declared forfeit.
This writer will be playing, having played on numerous previous occasions. From the list that I have seen so far, none of the other top Canadian players will be participating. I will include daily reports for my blog.
The above link (of the tournament) will provide full information and up to date results. As well as live games. So take a look from time to time!
