Breaking News: Makro plans to call off FIDE vote!
UNPRECEDENTED MOVE TO SUBVERT OCT 3 VOTE
Few details are available at this moment, but rumours suggest Makropoulos hurriedly scheming to cancel the FIDE vote scheduled for October 3rd or at least to disqualify Dvorkovich and/or Short. In the meantime, you can read THIS inital statement from Makropoulo’s official campaign site.
FIDE in crisis
As has been noted here on this blog frequently, the acting FIDE president has been working behind the scenes to try to subvert the upcoming democratic FIDE presidential vote by any and all means at his disposal.
With just 3 weeks to go before the vote, and with Dvorkovich and Short joining forces, Makro is aware that defeat at the urns is virtually guaranteed. Calling off the election, or better still, disqualifying his rivals are said to be high on his agenda in coming days.
Readers will recall that Makropoulos was the leader of a controversial ‘coup d’état’ following FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov’s voluntary withdrawal from the day to day operations of FIDE vis a vis his name being put on the US sanctions list, and has been the defacto FIDE president ever since.
Now with the October 3 vote placed in doubt, many fear that Makropoulos is trying to extend his power and take full and absolute control of FIDE, with elections being promised only when ‘conditions’ are acceptable to Makropoulos and his team.
