Blunder of the day!
SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
CAN YOU DO WORSE? PROBABLY NOT…
POSITION AFTER 29 MOVES:
WHITE TO PLAY AND LOSE!
WHITE TO PLAY AND LOSE!
NAKAMURA
BACROT
From today’s round at the Biel International tournament. After a very interesting and unclear middlegame, White now finds that he simply stands better with his passed pawn. Probably much better, though the White King is a bit vulnerable. Even so, it is unthinkable that Black has any winning chances..White should now just move his Queen (30.Qe3).
INSTEAD, WHITE MADE A MOVE THAT DROPS A ROOK IN 1-MOVE!!
30.Re1 ??? QxR-ch!
When Bacrot realized what he had just done, he resigned.
0-1
