Better late than never!
SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
The Angolan National Team finally arrived in Khanty Mansiysk (today) after a long and forgettable trip. They should be paired tomorrow. Apparently their federation experienced some internal problems right before they were supposed to leave, which in turn lead to organizational, financial and logistics difficulties. Eventually the team set off in 3 groups and were to join up later in Siberia… These gentlemen above were stuck in Switzerland for a day and a half before being able to continue their travels to Siberia. This writer wishes them the best of luck!
According to an Angolan sports newspaper (jornal dos desportos) the actual administration of the Angolan chess federation (FAX) is incompetent. IM Alex Nascimento, ex-secretary general of FAX, the present administration’s errors were unforgiveable and failed both on the political and diplomatic fronts. ”The leaders of FAX should not stop deceiving the public.” Nascimento is quoted as saying. The readers should remember that the FAX president (Jaime) is also part of Karpov’s campaign team.
