A quick tactic
SPRAGGETT ON CHESS
The following position is from the game between IM Boudre and a French national master Lemasle, played in the French Team Championship (II Division; in 2010). A complex and messy game that saw a vicious time scramble. When the smoke cleared and the first time control was met, we find this position after White’s 41st move. White is an exchange up and several of Black’s pieces are attacked.
BLACK TO PLAY AND WIN!
Solution: 41…Rf1ch!! if now 42.KxR? Qf6ch! is a forced mate! (42.Kg1 Bxe3ch 43.RxB Qf2ch etc) So the game continued 42.Rxf1 Bxe3ch 43.Kh1 and now the spectacular 43…Bxd5!! White resigns as it is forced mate.
