This year’s tournament is divided into 2 groups (A,B) and boast more than 600 players from all over the world. The top section (A–chess results link) has slightly more than 300 players, including 18 gms and 39 ims. A total of 35 countries are represented and there are 14 players rated 2500 or more; 41 players rated 2400 or more; and 84 players rated 2300 or more!
I intend to give regular updates as the tournament progresses, so stay tuned! You can also find information about the tournament from the following GREAT brazilian blog!
Canada’s top player participates in 2012 Sants Open in Barcelona!

I am playing in my FIRST open tournament in Barcelona…I have played a lot of chess in Barcelona, BUT only in team chess. Never in an open tournament…fortunately this is all changing!
Readers will remember that my Barcelona team (EEB) won earlier this year the very strong club championship of Catalyuna for the first time in its 25 year history. LINK
